Privacy Policy
What this website receives, what happens to it, and the choices you have.

The short version
- If you write to me through the contact form, your message is emailed to me. I treat it as confidential.
- I don’t sell your information, share it for marketing, or add you to any mailing list.
- The “Do I have a case?” questions are answered in your own browser. Your answers are not sent to me or stored anywhere.
- Like every website, this one receives some basic technical information when you visit, such as your internet address and the type of browser you use.
1. Who I am
This website is operated by Robert Ray, a Texas attorney. My office is in Lantana, Denton County, Texas. When this policy says “I” or “me,” it means me and my law office.
2. What you send me through the contact form
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your phone number (optional), and a description of your situation in your own words.
Where it goes. When you press Send, your message passes through Netlify, the company that hosts this website, and is emailed to me at robert@texasinheritance.com. My email is provided by Microsoft 365.
Where it is kept. The copy I rely on is the email in my inbox. Netlify also keeps a copy in my website account until I delete it, and I delete those copies regularly. This website has no database of its own.
How I treat it. I treat what you send me as confidential, whether or not we end up working together and whether or not I can take your case. I use it to understand your situation, to check for conflicts of interest, and to reply to you. I don’t share it with anyone else except as needed to respond to you or as the law or my professional duties require.
What it does not do. Writing to me doesn’t by itself make me your lawyer. That takes an agreement between us.
Please hold documents for now. Describe what happened, but don’t send documents until we’ve spoken. I explain why on the contact page.
3. The “Do I have a case?” questions
The questions in the “Do I have a case?” tool are worked out entirely in your own browser. Your answers are not sent to me, not sent to anyone else, and not saved after you leave the page. If you’d like me to know about your situation, please use the contact form.
4. Information received automatically when you visit
The website host. Like any web host, Netlify automatically receives technical information when your browser requests a page: your internet (IP) address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the time. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. I don’t use it to identify visitors.
5. Cookies
This site does not use cookies. There is no login, no shopping cart, and no advertising.
6. Links to other websites
Articles on this site link to other websites, such as the Texas statutes and court opinions. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
7. Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (the padlock in your browser’s address bar), so what you type into the contact form is protected on its way. No method of sending information over the internet is perfectly secure, which is one more reason I ask you to hold documents until we’ve spoken.
8. Children
This site is written for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
If how this site handles information changes, I’ll update this page.
